Thank you for consistently elevating her story and lending your support in ways seen and unseen. May she now take the rest denied her in this life.

Thank you for the reminder that it’s ok to leave, lock the door and explore new worlds outside of the small one that you left.

She was martyred.

How long, LORD, must I call for help, but you do not listen? Or cry out to you, “Violence!” but you do not save?

Not defending yourselves, dearly beloved; but rather give place unto the wrath of God, for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

God repay the SBC. Amen

I cannot “like” this post as there is nothing in it that is likeable. Those in power at the SBC are a horrible kind of evil. Rest in peace, Ms. Lyell.

I concur. I debated that myself. However, I thank Kristin for the article and sharing the truth of that evil and its destruction.

Given the new lawsuit she'd been pulled back into, the fact is no matter how hard she might have tried to leave that world, it was determined never to let her. And it killed her. The God of all the earth will do right by her, even as He already has, in delivering her from further suffering and into everlasting joy and peace.

Thanks for your words.

I am shivering on reading your post, and I am fighting back tears of rage. God bless Jennifer, and God bless you for being her friend and counselor. The words of wisdom you shared with her broke through the narrative she was trapped in and offered a door of hope. That she was unable to walk through it into the light is on those who crushed her spirit - and we know what scripture says about that. I take comfort in knowing that she is now freely and completely loved. Keep up your witness to truth, Kristin, even when it means sharing such a harrowing story. We need to know.

James, your post brings me to tears. Thank you your response - especially as a male - and for what you have done Kristin to keep sounding the alarm and for blessing Jennifer.

Thank you for being a friend to her, Kristin. What an unnecessary tragedy. I am thankful she can finally experience the rest of God.

I will sit and take time to allow her great faith to minister to me.

47 years old. I didn't know Jennifer, but I can't help to see her trauma as part of a larger picture. It seems to be the same sociopathic behavior we have seen pointed at librarians, teachers, police, social workers, community servants, judges, governors, migrant children, and anyone who is vulnerable or disobedient. It is the same mindset of Speaker Johnson and Senator Ernst where human life is devalued, disrespected, and thrown in the trash.

RIP, Jennifer. May we all use your witness and God's strength to empower our courage.

Jesus has nothing to do with any of this sordid mess, and those who killed her know it. They use him, as they used her, for their own profit. He will not hold them blameless.

There’s a First Baptist Church within convenient walking distance of my home. I’m sure there’s beloved family of God there, but I cannot bring myself to enter a church still affiliated with the SBC. Jesus would be cleaning out this “temple“ of greed, money, power, and hidden abuse.

This breaks my heart. As an Exvangelical male, I grieve for the destructive hurt inflicted on Jennifer and others allied with her.

I often wonder where the criminal justice system is in these tragic stories…

I imagine it would only take one successful prosecution and that would help so much in taking the SBC down.
